Boarding & hostels

A boarding school knows where every learner is, at every hour.

Premium plan and above

Why it matters

01

Bed-level allocation

Learners are allocated to a house, a dormitory and a bed, so occupancy is a fact rather than an estimate and a new admission can be placed without walking the dormitories.

02

Roll call that produces a record

Evening roll call is taken in the system by house staff. An absence at roll call is escalated immediately rather than noticed at breakfast.

03

Exeats tracked properly

Sign-out and sign-in are recorded with the authorising member of staff and the collecting adult, which is the record a school needs when a question is asked later.

A boarding school takes on responsibility for learners twenty-four hours a day, and the records that discharge that responsibility are usually kept in a hardback book on a housemaster’s desk.

Msomi allocates learners to a house, a dormitory and a specific bed, which makes occupancy a fact and placement of a new boarder a two-minute exercise. Roll call — evening and morning — is taken in the system, and an absence is escalated at the moment it is recorded rather than at breakfast.

Exeats and leave-outs run through a request and approval flow, with sign-out and sign-in recording both the authorising member of staff and the adult collecting the learner. Guardians are notified when their child signs out and when they return. When a question is asked about a particular weekend, the school has an answer.

See Boarding working on your school data

A demo runs about forty minutes and uses your own class lists, frameworks and grading — so you are looking at your school rather than a sample database.

Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked.
