msomi School Management
Built in Nairobi for Kenyan schools

Run the whole school on one record.

Admissions, attendance, CBC and KCSE grading, fees, transport and parent engagement — all reading from the same learner record, so a correction made once is a correction made everywhere.

01 The problem

Most schools do not have one record. They have eleven.

The learner list

One version in the admission book, another in a spreadsheet on the bursar’s laptop, a third in the class teacher’s notebook. All maintained carefully. None of them agreeing.

The marks

Collected on paper, retyped by somebody who did not mark them, graded against a boundary table somebody remembers, assembled into a merit list over a weekend.

The fee balance

Stored as a number a person maintains rather than derived from invoices — so the arrears list, the reminder and the principal’s report eventually disagree.

Every one of those copies is kept by somebody doing their job properly. They disagree anyway, because nothing keeps them in step. Msomi's whole proposition is one record per learner, one per member of staff, and every process reading from those rather than from a copy.

04 Getting started

Running in two to three weeks

Most of that time is spent bringing your existing records across, not learning the system.

  1. 01

    Describe your school

Your frameworks, levels, classes and streams, grading boundaries and admission number format. An afternoon, because it is a description of the school you already run.

  2. 02

    Bring your records across

Download the generated Excel templates, fill in your existing learner and staff lists, and import. Every file is validated in full before anything is saved.

  3. 03

    Start with the register

Teachers take attendance from day one, on a phone, in the classroom. Guardians begin receiving the same-morning alerts that make the system visible to families immediately.

  4. 04

Add the rest at your pace

Exams and report cards for the first series. Fees when the bursar is ready. Transport and the parent app when you want them. Nothing has to arrive at once.

The details that only matter if you run a school in Kenya

CBC, KCSE and Cambridge

Run more than one framework in a single school, each with its own levels, subjects and grading scale.

A three-term year

Terms are real records, and billing can follow them — because a term is the unit Kenyan schools budget in.

TSC numbers

Held on every teacher record, not in a comment box, so staff returns are a report rather than a search.

M-Pesa fee payments

Captured with their transaction code and matched to the learner, so reconciliation is a review of exceptions.

SMS to every parent

Guardians without smartphones receive the same alerts. No family is less informed because of their handset.

Data Protection Act 2019

Access follows responsibility, sensitive records are restricted further, and data is hosted in an African region.

A demo takes about forty minutes. Bring a class list and we will set up your frameworks, levels and grading while you watch — so you are looking at your school rather than ours.

Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked.
