A teacher opens their own subject and stream and enters marks directly. No mark sheet is carried to the office, and no marks are retyped by a third party.
Works where the signal does not
Registers and marks are captured offline and sync when the connection returns, so a weak signal in a classroom block does not stop the register being taken.
Teachers are the people a school management system most depends on and least accommodates. The data the whole system runs on — attendance and marks — is generated by staff who spend their day standing in a classroom, and is usually collected on paper because the software lives on a desktop in the staffroom.
The Msomi teacher app puts the two things teachers must record where they already are. The register for each allocated stream loads pre-populated; the teacher taps exceptions and submits. Mark entry is scoped to the subjects and streams that teacher actually teaches, so opening the app shows their mark sheets and nothing else.
