For school leaders

Run the school on one record instead of eleven spreadsheets.

  • Every learner, teacher and shilling on one system
  • Curriculum, grading and reporting configured to your school, not ours
  • The numbers your board asks for, ready before the meeting

Running a school means holding an enormous amount of information about a large number of people, and being accountable for all of it — to parents, to a board, to the ministry, and to the learners themselves.

Most schools hold that information in pieces. The learner list is in one place, the marks in another, the fee ledger in a third, the transport list on a clipboard. Each piece is maintained by somebody who is doing it carefully, and the pieces still disagree with each other, because nothing keeps them in step.

Msomi’s proposition to a school leader is narrow and specific: one record per learner, one record per member of staff, and every process reading from those records rather than from a copy. What follows from that — accurate reports, current dashboards, parents who are informed, an end of term that does not consume a fortnight — follows because the underlying data finally agrees with itself.

What you can do

  1. 01

    Get the register in order

Load your existing learner and staff lists from the spreadsheets you already keep, validated before anything is saved. From that point there is one authoritative record per person, and a correction made once is made everywhere.

  2. 02

Set up the curriculum you actually teach

Describe your frameworks, levels, subjects and grading boundaries once. CBC and KCSE can run side by side in the same school, each with its own ladder and its own grading scale, so nothing is ever averaged across incompatible systems.

  3. 03

    Know what is happening today

Attendance taken in the classroom before the first lesson ends. Fee balances derived from invoices rather than maintained by hand. Both on the leadership dashboard, current, with the ability to open any figure down to the individual learners behind it.

  4. 04

Stop losing a fortnight to reports

Report cards assembled from records that already exist rather than retyped into a template. Merit lists, subject analysis and collection reports produced on demand. The end of term becomes a process rather than a crisis.

  5. 05

    Answer parents before they call

Absence alerts the same morning, results when they are published, fee reminders on schedule and bus notifications as they happen — delivered to the parent app and by SMS to guardians who do not use it.

  6. 06

Run the whole institution, not just the classrooms

Fees, transport, boarding, the library, the store, the clinic and payroll on the same platform as the academic record, so operational decisions are made against the same facts as academic ones.
