Excel import & export

Bring your spreadsheets with you. Take your data out whenever you want.

Basic plan and above

Why it matters

01

Templates that match the system exactly

Msomi generates the Excel template for each type of record from its own fields, so the columns can never drift out of step with what the system expects.

02

Validated before anything is written

An import is checked in full before a single row is saved, with problems reported by row and column. You fix the file and re-import rather than discovering half a migration afterwards.

03

Your data is yours

Any list in the system exports to Excel — learners, staff, marks, attendance, fees. There is no stage at which the school's own data becomes difficult to retrieve.

Every school joining a management system arrives carrying spreadsheets, and every school that has ever been trapped in a system it could not leave asks how it gets its data out again. Both concerns are answered the same way.

Msomi generates its import templates from its own field definitions, so a template can never fall out of step with what the system expects. Fill it in, upload it, and the whole file is validated before anything is written — problems reported by row and column, and no partial import left behind if the file fails.

The same applies in reverse. Any list in the system exports to Excel: learners, staff, marks, attendance registers, fee statements, the full academic structure. Exports are formatted for the two things schools actually do with them — board reporting and returns to the ministry.

A demo runs about forty minutes and uses your own class lists, frameworks and grading — so you are looking at your school rather than a sample database.

Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked.
