Textbook issue and return, tracked per learner.

Why it matters

01

Textbook issue is the real problem

Most Kenyan schools issue a set of course books to every learner at the start of the year and try to recover them in December. Msomi tracks that issue per learner, so the recovery list at the end of the year is produced rather than reconstructed.

02

Overdue items chase themselves

Loans have due dates, and reminders go to the learner's guardian automatically. Losses can be charged to the fee account rather than written off.

A school library module is usually written for a lending library and then used, in practice, to solve a different problem: the annual issue and recovery of course books.

Msomi handles both. The catalogue holds titles, copies and accession numbers for ordinary borrowing, with due dates, renewals and automatic overdue reminders sent to guardians.

Alongside it, textbook sets are issued to learners at the start of the year and tracked per learner for the whole year. In December the recovery list is a report rather than a week of counting, and books that are lost or damaged can be charged to the fee account instead of quietly absorbed.

See Library working on your school data

A demo runs about forty minutes and uses your own class lists, frameworks and grading — so you are looking at your school rather than a sample database.

Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked.
